Blade is coming.

The world’s first single apparent source loudspeaker, only available to the best audio specialists, is landing soon to Hear No Evil in September 2011.

KEF, the renowned manufacturer of innovative, reference-quality loudspeakers, has announced the global release of KEF Blade, a revolutionary loudspeaker combining unmatched precise sound imaging and elegant design. KEF Blade, which is the result of five years of intensive R&D efforts, will be branded as the first product for KEF’s 50th anniversary which KEF celebrates this year, and will be available exclusively to Hear No Evil in the Denver area in September 2011.

KEF Blade is the evolution of KEF’s widely acclaimed Concept Blade which was first shown in 2009. It offers the highest quality sound reproduction available through KEF’s Single Apparent Source technology. Single Apparent Source technology ensures the entire frequency range radiates from one point in space, creating a sound picture that is virtually indistinguishable from a live performance. KEF Blade is further enhanced by a glass-reinforced composite cabinet that matches the speaker’s high performance sound quality with elegant industrial design.

KEF’s Single Apparent Source ensures that individual driver sections – for bass (LF), midrange (MF) and treble (HF) – of a multi-way loudspeaker work together and produce sound-fields that appear to come from the same point and place, which is especially important at the crossover frequencies where the sound output switches between drivers. The Single Apparent Source is a perfect extension of the new, fully pistonic KEF Uni-Q® MF/HF array, and includes the bass drivers for the first time. Together they combine to form a seamless point source driver array that can handle the entire frequency range.

Four 9” (22.5 cm), newly developed bass drivers deliver the KEF Blade’s distortion-free low frequency response. The engineering principle behind their configuration is simple – let the huge forces of each moving cone cancel each other out by arranging them in opposed, symmetrical pairs – but its effective implementation is fraught with engineering obstacles. The force produced by the bass drivers is so strong that the massive rear magnets have had to be bonded directly to each other to obtain the full benefit of this technology. They are side firing so their acoustic center coincides with those of the all-new, latest generation Uni-Q midrange driver and tweeter – forming the ground breaking Single Apparent Source technology.

KEF is celebrating their 50th Anniversary on September 27, 2011 and to help celebrate this momentous occasion, Hear No Evil will be showcasing Blade and KEF Reference at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest at the Denver Marriot on October 14-16.

OMG! KEF BLADE - The World's 1st Single Apparent Source Speaker is here, exclusively at Hear No Evil, Denver's #1 source for High Fidelity Audio Gear

KEF BLADE
When we gave our engineers free rein to create a fitting showcase for our technology leadership, they developed a revolutionary prototype that looked and performed like no other: Concept Blade, the world's first single apparent source loudspeaker.

Its phenomenal sonic capabilities met with such praise that we decided to produce an edition that serious audiophiles could actually own. After two years of painstaking refinement - and in time to mark 50 years of KEF innovation - Blade is the result.

Conceived from the outset to extend the boundaries of high end audio, it’s a unique synthesis of innovative engineering and groundbreaking design based on a new architecture that achieves the ideal point source to which all speakers aspire. This is because the four sophisticated new bass drivers are configured so that their combined acoustic centre occupies exactly the same point in space as that of the Uni-Q HF/MF array, so the sound appears to emanate from a single, flawlessly coherent source.

Sculptural and acoustically inert, the slender parabolic enclosures are engineered never to interfere with the purity of the output. The advanced new hybrid cones are so light and rigid that their natural break-up point is never reached within the required frequency range. Inside, you find ingenious new venting, bracing and wave management technologies. Meticulously specified, super-premium components - every one operating so comfortably within its performance envelope that you experience noticeably more precise imaging than is possible with conventional speakers. What you hear sounds as if it’s live - emotionally engaging, richly musical and effortlessly natural. A revelation, pure and simple.

KEF BLADE will arrive at their new home, Colorado's only KEF Reference dealer - HEAR NO EVIL Home Entertainment, in August 2011.  Call to arrange for your private viewing at 303-284-4647.

KEF 207/2's have arrived!

KEF's flagship Reference speaker, the 207/2, has arrived at Hear No Evil.  Regarded by many around the world as one of the best sounding loudspeakers anywhere, even at five times the price (they are $20K), you have to experience them to appreciate what they do:  disappear into your room.  They are effortless, and beautiful to listen to.  Words can not describe the sense of invisibility one feels when listening to the magnificent KEF 207/2.

Stereophile's John Atkinson said "While spaces remain in my heart for the Sonus Faber Amati homage, the mbl 111B, the Dynaudio Confidence C4, the original Revel Ultima Studio, and the Wilson Audio Sophia, I must say that the Series 2 revision of KEF’s Reference 207, the 207/2, is overall the best-sounding full-range speaker I have used in my current listening room...to all intents and purposes, it is without flaw. The lows are extended and well defined, the mid-range is pure, the treble is free of grain and naturally balanced, the dynamics are awesome, and the stereo imaging is accurate and stable. The 207/2 simply defines neutrality, but without losing sight of the musical message. $20,000 is still a lot of money, but for a pair of speakers of this caliber, it’s tempting to declare the big KEF a bargain, considering that you can pay five times as much for speakers that sound only as good.”

The Absolute Sound noted "The 207/2 establishes a new benchmark for floorstanders at this price-level, combining useable bandwidth and a manageable load with superb musical coherence and timing. For once, the term “Reference” isn’t being abused…"

Other good speakers convey sonic detail (such as fingers dragging across guitar strings), but the 207/2s went beyond detail, truly lifting a veil from the music.

"I am not worthy, I am not worthy." That's what I thought when I first started listening to these speakers. But not surprisingly, I quickly grew accustomed to their luxurious sound, and I soon realized I could get very used to this level of fidelity. Clearly, at $20,000 a pair, I expect speakers to sound good. Fortunately, these KEF's did not disappoint in any way. Their level of transparency was simply marvelous. If your ears are sufficiently sophisticated, you'll be amazed to hear what other speakers have been concealing in your disc collection all these years. What more can I say? With the 207/2, KEF has earned its place as the Rolls-Royce of speaker builders.
